Who Are We?

Mike Luciano (@mikeluciano) is a director, writer and actor who makes TV, films & books in Los Angeles & New York. He's the co-creator of the HBO series ANIMALS. and his collaboration with Brianna goes back to high school when their feature film, SEAN. played festivals and sold out their DIY printing of DVDs.

Brianna Lee (@briannatothelee) is an actress and writer from Long Island, New York. She studied at the Upright Citizens Brigade Comedy Training Center in New York City, and has performed live improvisational and sketch comedy for several years at different venues all over NYC and Los Angeles.

Brianna & Mike are lifelong friends who grew up making films through the streets of the small seaside town of Sea Cliff. They’ve been writing & producing comedy films and projects since 2002. Their short film "The Professional" and won 'Best of the Fest; Short Short' Award at the 2019 LA Indie Film Festival. 'A Sea Cliff Story' is the crowning achievement of their lifelong artistic friendship.

Why Sea Cliff?

Ahh Sea Cliff, NY. Our magical little hometown is one square mile, populated with friendly neighbors, Old Victorian houses, and enough memories and colorful characters to make 50 epic movies. For years we’ve dreamed of paying it homage -- and last summer, we decided it was the perfect time to try and capture what makes this village so special in a film.

"A Sea Cliff Story" is our ode to town love, local history, and an endorsement of municipality workers and their important contribution to a thriving community. This film was made possible with the help of the Sea Cliff Village Museum, who's staff provided numerous historical images and artifacts and who's long time archivist is featured in the film.

What's 'A Sea Cliff Story’ About?

Set entirely on July 4th, A SEA CLIFF STORY follows village resident Lillian Hariclum, whose fundraising event at Sea Cliff Beach will help save the Sea Cliff Museum. Throughout the day, Lillian experiences a roller coaster of emotions, meeting tons of lovable Sea Cliff characters and ultimately overcomes the obstacles preventing her from becoming the star she was meant to be. It’s about blossoming into the boldest version of oneself, while not letting insecurity hold us back.

We aspired to use Sea Cliff as our canvas, influenced by the patriotic satire of Robert Altman's ‘Nashville,’ the summertime colors of Sean Baker's ‘Red Rocket,’ the poetry of Richard Linklater's ‘Slacker,’ Fellini's spirited hometown love letter ‘Amarcord,’ and much more.

The film is earnest, silly, outrageous & heart-aching. Growing up in a village like Sea Cliff allowed for such aesthetic range, which we’re convinced makes for the best art -- and hopefully, exciting cinema. Cheers to Sea Cliff, and hometown love everywhere!
